The 2007 blends the lush berry flavors of Zinfandel, the power and concentration of Cabernet Sauvignon, the dark black fruit of Syrah, the intensity and structure of Petite Sirah, the flesh of Charbono, and a hint of Grenache - all combined for a decadent wine with great complexity.

2005 Taupenot-Merme Mazoyeres Chambertin Grand Cru
Special Anniversary Price $82 ($120 Regular Price, almost 30% off)
Burghound 93 Points (Drink 2015+): “Tasting note: As it almost always is, here the nose is deeper and more serious with more obvious earth and game notes that add depth to the red and dark berry fruit aromas that merge into delicious, round and distinctly more masculine and powerful flavors that are punchy, long and while not rustic, certainly more robust than those of the Charmes. This duo presents almost the contrast as it did in 2005 with their qualitative similarity but quite different personalities. A high class choice.” Limited to 15 bottles

The Sinful Zin Tasting
I have to say that Zinfandel and the fall season fit perfectly together. Last night, we drank a 2006 Carlisle ‘Montafi Vineyard’ Zinfandel. It seemed like a perfect wine to pair with a grilled lime and chili seasoned flank steak and our first batch of slightly fried and roasted brusell sprouts. Zinfandel has a great richness and fullness to it, while being able to have diverse flavor profiles depending on whom and where it comes from. This Friday we will pour the infamous The Pines Old Vine Zinfandel along with some of our California favorites. Everyone should have a few Zinfandel wines put away for the fall and winter season.

Thomas Pinot Noir Pre-Sell
Last year, we did not open in time to obtain an allocation of one of the most sought after Oregon Pinot Noir wines of our time. Prior to working at the wine shop I was a buyer of the wine year after year. About two years ago I was able to attend an 11 year vertical of 12 wines (there were 2 different bottling of the 1996 vintage). Even a year like 1997, forgotten by many, showed well at this retrospective tasting. My personal favorites were the 36 month barrel aged 1996, 1998, and the 1999. Some of you have had a chance to purchase past vintages from the store’s cellar, including vintages like 2001, 2002, and 2004. The official release of the 2006 vintage will be the first week of November. I have a very limited amount to pre-sell. This wine will probably never hit the shelf, unless I am able to increase my allocation. The wine is going to be pre-sold at three price points. Release price ~$50.
