Wine Advocate 96+ “The luxury cuvee, the inky/blue/purple-hued 2003 Hermitage Les Bessards (4,200 bottles; 13.6% alcohol), exhibits a huge perfume of spring flowers, blueberries, blackberries, licorice, and scorched earth. With superb richness, magnificent intensity, and a full-bodied, tannic finish, it will benefit from 5-10 years of cellaring, and should age for 30+ years.”

Wine Spectator Wine of the Year 2008…2005 Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta

Every year when the Top 100 is released people run out with a shopping list of the wines they want to purchase. The #1 one is always the most difficult to find. This year it is the 2005 Casa Lapostolle Clos Apalta. It received 96 points from the Spectator and should age reasonably well. Below you will find the tasting note.

96ptsWS: “Gorgeous aromas of warm ganache and mocha lead to a rich, velvety palate loaded with currant, fig paste, black licorice, cassis bush and bramble notes. The long, juicy finish has great grip and density, with echoes of graphite, dark fruit and mineral. Should greatly reward cellaring. Carmenère, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2009 through 2019.”

This wine is being offered at $110 a bottle (net). Three bottles available. One bottle has a small overlap on the top blue label.
