Festival of 2007 Oregon Pinot Noir II

April 3, 2009
5:00 pmto8:00 pm

The Pinot madness continues this Friday at Garrison’s Fine Wines. It has been one month since our first festival (Party) that focused on the 2007 vintage of Oregon Pinot Noir. If this is your first time getting the newsletter, we are having three tastings purely focusing on the 2007 vintage of Oregon Pinot Noir. In part, this is in response to Matt Kramer’s article two months. The other reason is because I, like many of you, love Oregon Pinot Noir. The third tasting of this continuous festival will be in late summer when many other 2007 Pinot Noir wines will be released. (Yes, you should be asking yourself now how an article was written about these wines when they were not even bottled or released 3-4 months ago.) This flight will consist of seven wines. Come enjoy the fun and have your own opinion of the 2007 vintage!

2005 Rene Rostaing Condrieu La Bonnette

WA 93 (less than 300 cases made)

Originally $65+ Now $45

The 2005s are intense, rich, structured, tannic, and backward. Like so many Northern Rhones, they possess considerable structure and tannin which gives the sense that the wines are going to age for a long time. Yet in the eternal struggle in a wine’s evolution between the fruit and the tannin, the tannins win out 90% or more of the time.A limited production wine (only around 3,000 bottles), but superb, is the 2005 Condrieu La Bonnette, which exhibits plenty of peach, apricot, and honeysuckle notes in a medium to full-bodied, opulent style, but in 2005 the good acidity of the vintage has given the wine more definition and freshness than usual.
