2007 Oregon Pinot Noir Tasting $15

September 18, 2009
5:00 pmto8:00 pm

It was about seven months ago that I had a lengthy weekly message that disagreed with the infamous Matt Kramer on his views of the 2007 vintage of Oregon Pinot Noir.  Since that time I have created tasting of Oregon Pinot Noir that just focused on the 2007 vintage.  Over the next two Fridays we will have back to back tasting focusing on Oregon Pinot Noir.  This Friday, will focus solely on the 2007 vintage.  We will be bringing in favorites from Evesham Wood (Le Puits Sec), Cameron’s Gehrts Vineyard, Matello’s Souris, along with some releases from newer wineries.  A week from Friday we will be comparing the 2006 vintage to the 2007 vintage.  We will be pouring three individual wines, from three producers, from both the 2006 and 2007 vintage.

The worse thing to happen is that the 2007 vintage will pass by and you missed out on getting any of the wines.  Come and taste through some new favorites.

2007 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape

Arriving very soon is the much anticipated release of the 2007 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape.  About 80 cases are coming into circulation in Oregon and will be sold out before they arrive.  If you have interest in any of these, please call or email the shop.  See below for pricing and reviews.
SOLD OUT

Robert Parker scored the wine a (94-96+)

“The 2007 Vieux Telegraphe Chateauneuf du Pape should ultimately eclipse the 2005 and 1998. It appears to be one of the finest wines made by Daniel Brunier and his brother. Its deep ruby color is accompanied by a superb nose of nori seaweed wrappers, licorice, pepper, tobacco leaf, and gobs of sweet black cherry and black currant fruit. Full-bodied with a fabulous texture, purity, and freshness (a consistent hallmark of this vintage), a juicy, rich, layered mouthfeel, and a finish that lasts for 45+ seconds. Although young, the tannin, acidity, and alcohol are all well-integrated. Typically, this wine tends to be dormant for 3-5 years after bottling, then emerge brilliantly. Therefore, I would wait until 2012 before pulling a cork on this one. Drink it over the following 20-25 years.”

The regular retail of the wine will probably be about $80 a bottle.  Saying that, I of course won’t be carrying a lot of the wine and want to make sure that if you want any of the wine that I can give you the best price.

1-5 bottles $70 a piece

6-9 bottles $66 a piece

10-12 bottles $62 a piece

1.5L (Magnum) $150

If you have interest in half bottles, 3.0L or larger let me know and I can work out those prices.  Those are much more limited and I might not be able to get the really large bottles.
